Betty Howell Traver notes on reverse: "Hannah Brooks Thompson b. May 29, 1789 in Nova Scotia, d. May 19, 1872 in Augusta, Georgia area. When quite old. She was a pioneer in the early 1800's. It was her daughter Elizabeth who went to New York City in the 1830's and had her silhouette cut. I have large framed engraving of H.B.T. (not pretty) and our cousin James (Jimmy) Britain of Gray, Georgia has a large picture of her (pretty) taken earlier.

A gift from Betty Howell Traver, March 2006.
