      Flora [CAMPBELL], born at the present home in 1838 [& died in 1903], is the wife of Rev. C[olin] Sinclair [1834-1920] [son of Elder Dugald SINCLAIR] of the Disciples Church, of St. Thomas [Elgin County, Ontario], and they have four sons; Dr. Duncan  (of Woodstock), Neil (of St. Thomas), Burnett (deceased) and John (of St. Thomas),

      1872-74 - Motherless teenager John Peter SMITH in Town of Russia, Herkimer County, New York, fills his diary with the comings and goings of Scottish friends, including Blues from North Gage, Town of Deerfield, Oneida County, and Campbells from Kent County, Ontario.

      Verbatim excerpt from the diaries of John Peter SMITH (age 15-17) who lived with his batchelor uncles Allan and Alex SMITH on Elm Flats Road, Town of Russia, Herkimer County, New York.

      DEC. MONDAY 23, 1872: "To day has been very cold and stormy. I have been to home to day. In the evening Allen Blue [1826-1900] and wife [Ann Smith BLUE, 1826-1901] and Arch Blue and and [sic] his wife from Deerfield and Niel Campbell [1808-1880] and daughter [Flora CAMPBELL Sinclair 1838-1903] from Canada came here and stayed all night. Uncle Alex fell down the cheese house and broke his collar bone."

      DEC. THURSDAY 26, 1872: "To day has been stormy. Sally Ann [CAMPBELL, 1831-1879] and [her sister] Dorcus [CAMPBELL, 1837-1910] and Flora Sinclair were here. In the afternoon I took them down to Pa's. Kate and I were down there in the evening. Libbie Thomas came here to work to day."

      DEC. SATURDAY 28, 1872: "To day is clear and cold. We came home from Ninety Six to day. In the afternoon Niel Campbell Flora Sinclair Stewart Mame and Katie went to Shawangunk."

      DEC. SUNDAY 29, 1872: "To day has been pleasant. Niel Campbell and Flora Sinclair have been here to day. In the evening Flora Kate Katie Argyle and I went down to Dougald Campbells [1803-1885, father of Sally Ann, Malcolm, Dorcas, and Elizabeth CAMPBELL -- the only Campbell family not to move to Canada -- all buried at Woodins Corner, NY]."

      DEC. MONDAY 30, 1872: "To day has been Pleasant. In the afternoon Stewart Mame Katie Kate and I went over to Arch Blues. Malcolm Sally Ann Niel Campbell, Flora Sinclair went down to Newport and came to Deerfield in the evening."

      JANUARY THURSDAY, 2 1873: "To day is pleasant. Uncle Allen went to Prospect Gravesville and Russia Corners. Mr McArthur and Howard Flora and Cousin Harriet Campbell were here. Archibald Blue was here in the evening [6, 7]
