  • Notes
    • Note: Mckinney Howell had a brother named William.  We are not 100% sure however this particular William is the brother of McKinney, however there is a Y-DNA match (66 out of 67 locations) between one of Williams descendants (the father of Barbara Howell with whom I have corresponded) and myself (John S. Howell, Jr.) McKinney Howell's 4x great grandson.

      From Havilah Howell:

"William did not like Georgia and went to Alabama"

      From Barbara Howell:

"William Howell, died in Talbot County, GA, in 1836, and was married to Elizabeth Harvey, daughter of Michael Harvey. They had eight children that I am aware of per William's will: Thomas, Stephen, Mathew, James, Rebecca, Martha, Elizabeth, and John. Apparently, William had received land in Georgia for Revolutionary Warservice. Prior to moving to Talbot County, he lived in Baldwin County, Georgia, where his eldest son, Thomas, was born.

      From "House of Howell":

"As William, the other brother left Georgia, we have lost sight of his family, except that he had a daughter said to be a very handsome woman." [13, 14, 15]

Subject: [HOWELL] William Howell of Talbot County, GA- died 1836

I am looking for information on William Howell, who died in Talbot County,
GA, in 1836, and was married to Elizabeth Harvey, daughter of Michael
Harvey. They had eight children that I am aware of per William's will:
Thomas, Stephen, Mathew, James, Rebecca, Martha, Elizabeth, and John.
Apparently, William had received land in Georgia for Revolutionary War
service. Prior to moving to Talbot County, he lived in Baldwin County,
Georgia, where his eldest son, Thomas, was born. I would appreciate any
assistance in finding out more about William and his ancestry.
