  • Notes
    • Notes from "My Search For John Stephen Jackson":

Sometime during the 1750's, Edward migrated to the 'back country' of North Carolina, settling on what came to be known as 'Veazey Ridge' in the Knap of Reeds Community of Granville County.  He purchased 320 acres there in 1759 and another 200 acres in 1762.  Edward deeded the latter tract to his son Elijah for "natural love and affection" on 15 Jul 1769; he willed, on 14 Sep 1770, the original 320 acres to his wife Ann 'during her life and, at her death, to be sold an money equally divided to all my daughters.'  Following Ann's death in 1787, the 320 acre tract was sold at auction to the highest bidder."
