    • Virginia K. Howell notes: "Ernest Melville Howell, II (b. app. 12-30-1914; d. 12-26-58): killed in small plane crash accident in Poplar Bluff, MO.  Dad was originally from Georgia and... I think he was born in Greene County.  Dad was a Lieutenant Colonel, USAF stationed in Omaha, Nebraska, at the time of his tragic death and untimely death.   Our entire family was in the plane at the time of the accident.  In fact, we were on our way to Miami to visit one of dad's sisters and family over the Christmas holidays.  Dad was the pilot of the plane. Subject: Are We Related? Howell Family Genealogy

      Greetings, Mr. Howell,

I wonder if we could be related?  I am not a skilled computer lady, however, in browsing I found 'your site,' to my utter and delightful surprise!  Could we be related?  You seem to be very skilled at the family tree hobby; a real compliment to you.

I am Virginia King Howell (b.1-11-45), daughter of Ernest Melville Howell, II (b. app. 12-30-1914; d. 12-26-58: killed in small plane crash accident in Poplar Bluff, MO).  Dad was originally from Georgia and I think he was born in Plains, not sure though.  And, I'm think he was born in Greene County.  Dad was a leuitenant (sp?) colonol, USAF stationed in Omaha, Nebraska, at the time of his tragic death and untimely death.   Our entire family was in the plane at the time of the accident.  In fact, we were on our way to Miami to visit one of dad's sisters and family over the Christmas holidays.  Dad was the pilot of the plane.  Anyway, dad was the son of Ernest Melville Howell who was married to Ruby Clifton, and she was adopted, I've been told.  My brother is Ernest Melville Howell III (b. 1-24-47). I don't want to go on too long and if this is error, I apologize.  I've long been interested in genealogy but that was many years ago.  I didn't get anywhere really then, the computers have opened been wonderful for searching, haven't they?  I use the computer at one of our libraries, I don't have a pc at home, having almost zero modern techologies at home with the exception of a microwave oven and telephone answering recorder!

I would appreciate any response you would be kind enough to send! Your comments/input are eagerly awaited!  I will answer any questions you may have, however, I know little of the family history.  I did hear that Dad's dad had several brothers and sisters, however. I visit the library often to check email, etc.

Thank you for your time and hoping to hear from you!

      Best regards and Peace,

      Virginia K. Howell
