Solomon Burk Left

Passed Away Wednesday After a Long
Illness -- Born in Harwich Tp.

Solomon Burk a widely known citi-
zen of Blenheim and Harwich, passed
away in the hospital at Chatham last
Wednesday after a long illness. He
was born in Harwich seventy-three
years ago, and had lived in Harwich
and Blenheim all his life, except for a
few years spent at Highgate. He was
always actively associated with the
community life here.
Mr. Burk was taken to the hospital
a few days before he passed away and
an operation failed to provide the re-
lief that was hoped for.
He is survived by his wife and five
sons and six daughters which consti-
tuted his entire family; as follows:---
Christian, Sherman, Roy, Merton and
Stephen all of this community; Mrs.
Jas. Richardson, Highgate; Mrs. Wm.
Green, Fargo; Mrs. Roy Pardo, Blen-
heim; Mrs. Levi Nutt, Bracebridge;
Mrs. Ray Marshall, Sandwich, and
Miss Evelyn, at home.
There are also two brothers and
three sisters, William, of Bay City,
Mich., Mont., of Simcoe; Mrs. Neil
Rose, Morpeth; Mrs. Les Conlin, Bay
City Mich., and Mrs. John Rigby, of
Blenheim.
Mr. Burk had been a member of
Kent Lodge, A. F. & A. M.. In religion
he was a member and faithful worker
in the Universalist Church. In politics
he was a staunch Liberal.
Besides his farming interests he had
long been identified with the threshing
industry, and had been an officer of
the Ontario Threshermen's Associa-
tion.
The funeral service was conducted
at the Universalist Church on Friday
afternoon by the pastor, Rev. Phillips
Thayer, and interment was at the Burk
Cemetery, Fourth Line. During the
service Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Gladstone,
of Highgate, sang beautifully "God
Will Take Care of You" and "Sweet
Bye and Bye". Miss Munn was the
accompanist.
The pall bearers were three cousins,
Sam., Sidney and James Burk, and old
neighbours at Highgate, Mat. Dickson,
Jack Laws and Will Gladstone.
