  • Notes
    • From William Heard Kilpatrick notes from a book which belonged to his father:

"McKinne had two sons, Matthew and John."

Notes from My Search For John Stephen Jackson:

"According to Villa Howell Mapp, her father bought 'one of the best dwellings in the village' of White Plains, i.e. James Jackson's house located opposite the Baptist Church.  Greene County tax records for 1853 list John J. Howell as the Executor for McKinney Howell, deceased, and the Agent for Sarah M. Howell, widow of his deceased brother Matthew Cavenaugh Howell"

"He was supposedly buried in the Johnson Cemetery, located across the road from his parents' former home; unfortunately, that cemetery was subsequently bulldozed to build a dam for a pasture pond."

      From History of Greene County:

There are several marriages performed by a "J.J. Howell" in Rice & Williams "History of Greene Co., GA" in his time. a J.J. Howell also appears on p. 645 as a Justice of the Inferior Court of Greene Co. the list spans 1786-1868.

From "Acts passed by the General Assembly of Georgia, Dec 20, 1828" p.26:
"To John McBride late Surveyor General, the sum of five hundred and eight dollars, agreeably to a concurred resolution."

      Forty-four Families notes:

"JOHN JOHNSON HOWELL, father of Dr. John McKinney Howell, was born December 25, 1810, in White Plains, Georgia. He married Elmina McBride, who was born August 13, 1816, at Perry, Georgia, the daughter of John McBride and Elizabeth Veazey, daughter of Ezekiel Veazey. Elmina died May 22, 1883. (This writer visited White Plains and saw the home of the Howells which was a fine landmark well preserved.)" [27, 28, 29, 30, 31]

      John,
      Thanks for your contact.
I hope you can solve the problem. Here is the note from my file:
Ref: IGI Index - 1994 Edition listed son, John McKinney Howell
(my note: It is a mystery why John McKinney Howell is a child here)
Do you have a list of children for them, so I can change the website
      listing?
      Blessings,
      Mavis
