Married:
- David Couch notes:
"Mary Ann Howell married Dr. Albert Towles 6 November 1859 in Chambers County, Alabama. Mary Ann Howell Towles and Dr. Albert Towles are my great great Grandparents. Their daughter, Lizzie Lee Towles, married my great grandfather, William M. Couch."
"Dr. Towles was a surgeon in the Civil War. After the war, he came to Palestine, Anderson County, Texas, and can be found on the 1870 Anderson County Census. He sent for Mary Ann after establishing his practice in Texas, and she, her father, Isaac Howell, brothers, and sister, Carrie Ada Howell came to Texas from Chambers Co, Alabama. Dr. Towles died prior to the taking of the 1880 census. His wife, Mary Ann HOWELL Towles was a school teacher, and she taught school in East Texas, where she met Steve Robert Williams. She married Mr. Williams, but she died on 10 January 1912, and Mr. Williams remarried. " [2]
