Notes |
- Her name is pronounced Mariah.
Docket notes:
"Ann Maria Bothum Goslee's Homestead, she inherited from her mother and it is now the George W. Hearn Homestead"
Photo of gravestone on file.
The gravestone is inscribed Born: November 19, 1826, Died: October 13, 1894, Age: 67 years 10 months 24 days. - (there has to be an error as the dates on the headstone don't reconcile with each other. Assuming the date of death and her age at death were correct - then her birth date is Nov 19, 1825 - one year later than what appears on the stone.
Inscription on gravestone transcribed by Wanda Dawson reads:
Oh mother thy gentle voice is hush
Thy warm true heart is still.
And on thy pale and peaceful face
Is resting death's cold chill.
Thy hands are clasped upon thy breast,
We've kissed thy lovely brow,
And in our aching hearts we know,
We have no mother now.
Wanda Dawson notes: She was buried in the John S. Goslee Family Graveyard: East side Hickory Mill Road 1 mile south of Manson Waller Road [Uncle Dan and Aunt Ruth Smith's Farm], then moved to Old Saint Stephen's Cemetery, State Street Delmar, Maryland. [9, 10]
