Howard, a retired sand and gravel merchant, of Greensboro, Caroline county, will be held at P.M. Wednesday at the Wil liamson funeral establishment here. Mr. Howard, who was 83, had been a patient at Deers Head State Hospital in Salisbury for the past eight years. He died at the hospital Saturday. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Sarah Foley and Mrs. Grace McQuay, both of Easton, Md.; Mrs. Ruth Steenkens, of Preston, Md.; Mrs. Louise Williamson, of Blades, Del., and Mrs. Dorothy Holland, of Bridge- ville, Del.; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren." |

J Howard, 83, former owner of a sand and gravel business in 'Greensboro, died Sunday in ' Deer's Head State Hospital, Salisbury, after a long illness. He was born in the Laurel Grove section, near Federalsburg, and was a son of the late Frederic and Sallie Andrew Howard. Surviving are five daughters, .Mrs. Sarah Foley, Mrs. Grace McQuay, both of Easton, Mrs. Ruth Steenkens, Preston, Mrs. Louise Williamson, Blades, and Mrs. Dorothy Holland, Bridgeville; 12 grandchildren and 18 great - grandchildren. Funeral services will be held - Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Williamson Funeral Home, Federalsburg. Retired Methodist minster the Rev. Essel P. Thomas, Easton will officiate. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery, near Federalsburg Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday night alter 7. |

- His nephew Wm. Lawrence Howard M.D. recalled in a 2003 conversation that he was a farmer. He had a little farm that his wife Emma Clark inherited from her parents. Frank was about 5' 8" tall. He owned two mules that he would sometimes lend to his brother John W. Howard. He also owned a gravel pit in Greensboro MD. His marriage with Emma ended in divorce.
