  • Notes
    • Art Davison notes:

"Andrew came to Horton Township where he was granted land in Grand Pre and on Long Island, dated 29 May 1761.  His death occurred on the 15th of February when he attempted to board a ship in Minas Basin to secure some of it's cargo of tea, slipped on the rungs of the ladder, fell into the icy waters and drowned.  Not long afterward his entire estate was sold at public auction.  In 1857 a grandson, Asa Davison, purchased a portion of the farm."

      Frank Ripley notes:

"Resided Falmouth, NS. He was an original Horton grantee.  Andrew Davison's estate probate in Kings County, NS, lists Eunice Prentice as his daughter.  He or his son lived next door to Oliver Prentice.  He or his son was charged with introducing small pox to Horton and threatening to shoot anyone who attempted to move him to a quarantined area."

      H. R. Remsen Coles notes:

"Seems to have been elector at Preston, 1751, and deed land there"
"settled at Horton,; d. at Horton, N.B. 15 Feb 1784. (Horton town records)"

      Other Notes:

"Horton, now Hantsport, was settled by the "New England Planters," who moved from Connecticut and Rhode Island to Nova Scotia in 1760, following the expulsion of the Acadians. Many families in the area trace their ancestry to the earliest settlers of New England. " [6, 13, 14]
