Notes |
- Barbara Smith notes:
"He is mentioned In an article in the Nashua Telegram as the proprietor of the Highland Spring Sanitorium - it was at the corner of Highland and Beaumont streets in Nashua, NH. Not sure how long it was there, but it was listed in the Nashua NH city directory of 1905."
Scott McPhie, Nashua Historical Society notes:
"The Highland Springs Sanatorium complex of buildings still stands at the corner of Beauview Avenue not Beaumont Avenue and Manchester street in Nashua New Hampshire. The complex is composed of two separate Victorian homes connected by a barn which today are all combined together to form an apartment house. The Highland Springs Sanitarium was established in 1900 when Albert Brownrigg purchased the elegant home from Colonel Elbridge Copp of Civil War fame here in Nashua. Colonel Copp subdivided the entire neighborhood in 1895 and proceeded to name all the north south streets by northern Civil war generals ranks beginning with Grant Street(never built) with Sherman, Sheridan, Burnside, and New Hampshire Generals after that all those streets are built. Charlotte Avenue runs East West and is named in Honor of Major General John Gray Foster also of Nashua who was the Captain of the Army Corp of Engineers at Fort Sumter when the first shots were fired."
