 | Z. H. Webster - Obituary The Evening Journal, Wilmington, Delaware, 25 Feb 1922, Sat, Page 12
"DEATH TAKES TWO MINISTERS (Continued From First Page.) "The Rev. Zach H. Webster, 68 years, died at 9 o'clock last night, at his home in Denton, Md. He had been In failing health since, 1920, when he retired from the active ministry. At the time of his retirement he was in charge of the Denton Church. His first charge was at Quantico, Md., in 1887. For many years he was assistant secretary, of the Wilmington Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He also held many appointments on the various committees of the conference. He was greatly liked by all who knew him. Dr. Webster was at one time pastor of Asbury M. E. Church this city. Following are the various charges he had held: Quantico, Fruitland, Whitesvllle, Tangier, Denton, Frederica, Hlllsboro, Delmar, Asbury, Wilmington, Laurel, Rising Sun and Milton. He was born at Deal's Island, Md. Surviving him are five daughters. They are; Mrs. E. M. Fowler, of Laurel; Mrs. L. J. Harrington, of Moore, Pa.; Mrs. T. P. Freeny, Mrs. H. A. Conwell and Miss Helen H. Webster, all of Delmar." |

Notes |
- Entered ministry 1887 Quantico, MD
Preached in Laurel & Delmar MD, and Princess Anne Counties. Was preaching at the Methodist Church in Denton, MD when his wife Elizabeth died while giving birth.
Deal Island was originally Devil Island, but preachers made them rename it. - Unsure if this Mr. Webster had a role in the renaming.
Interesting that daughters have names from the Old Testament: including: Sara (wife of Abraham), Ruth (wife of Mahlon), and Esther (wife of Ahasuerus).
.... Three major denominations -- Episcopalianism, Methodism and Presbyterianism -- would eventually trace their American roots right to Delaware or the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
