"That the Duncan Campbell above was a son of Peter Campbell and Isabel Ferguson is pure guess-work on my part."
"For reasons which will appear later, we think that Peter and Isabel did have a son named Duncan and that he was either the eldest or the 2nd son."
"It does not follow that the Duncan above was the one. We do not have a record of his marriage to Isabella Fletcher so we cannot say positively that Peter was their first son. No more were registered after Angus but we know that sort of thing happened many times, so it does not follow that there weren't any more children or that the father died at that time. Why then have I chosen this Duncan?"
"Because:
1. His first son of record was named Peter
2. The child Peter was born at Auchindrain
3. We cannot find record of any more of that family after Angus so it is possible that the father died shortly after Angus was born in 1791.
4. If Peter Campbell and Isabel Ferguson did have a son named Duncan that son would have had to have died before Jan 1793 when L?'s son Duncan was born." [2]
