      Hi John,

I'm emailing from my work account because it just occurred to me that I hadn't passed on new findings from the last several months

Reply to pspencer@eastlink.ca   , the same email we've corresponded on before

I found an obituary for John Hastings I believe 1930, and his burial place which I'll send along when I get home. I f you reply to the home email it will remind to do this

Another aside,  Joseph Hastings, brother of John, was a very busy contractor in Allegheny and did many extensive street and sewer projects there.  An associate of his who was a bank clerk, was doing some tricky dealing, using other people's stock certificates (left for loan collateral) as collateral for bank loans at other institutions.  The discovery of this brought down the bank he worked for and Joseph Hastings had a substantial loan there (100s of thousands$$$). The collapse of the bank meant Hastings loan was recalled in Dec1904 (I think…..-I know I have the details home), which ruined him. In February 1905, Hastings was in a New York sanatorium (probably a nervous breakdown) when he shot himself.  (how did he get a gun when in the San???)  Anyway, this unscrupulous stock dealing was the precursor for many similar events that led to the bank panic of 1907.

My Davison research is taking me in directions I never dreamed of.
