"She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School and a 1917 graduate of Maryland Normal School in Towson. She taught at Nichols School for several years. She retired from Puncke Insurance Agency in the 1970s. Mrs. Howard was a member of Union United Methodist Church, the Berea Bible Class, Circle Mary, and was a member and received special missionary recognition from the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Nanti-coke Chapter No. 64 for the past 65 years, and served as their Worthy Matron in 1934. She was a past president of the Caroline County Farm bureau and served on its Ladies Advisory Board, and was a past president of Caroline Homemakers Club. Mrs. Howard is survived by three grandchildren, Connie H. Blanchfield, Patricia H. Glessner and Melinda Hagedorn, all of Federalsburg; five great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A son, Lawrence Claude Howard Jr., died Nov. 15, 1961. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 20 at Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, Federalsburg. Burial will be at Hill Crest Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday form 7 until 9 p.m., where there will be an Eastern Star service at 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Union United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 156, Federalsburg, Md. 21632."
